Money

We know that 100 paise = ₹1.
Therefore, 1 paise = 1100= ₹ .
So, 65 paise = 65100= ₹
and 5 paise = 5100= ₹
What is 105 paise? It is Rs 1 and 5 paise = ₹

We have found the answer.

Length

Mahesh wanted to measure the length of his table top in metres. He had a 50 cm scale. He found that the length of the table top was 156 cm. What will be its length in metres?

Mahesh knows that:

1cm=

  • We know that 1cm = 1100 m
  • convert the 1100m into decimal
  • 156 cm = cm + cm
  • converting the 56cm into m is and add the values
  • convert the 56100 into decimal is =m
  • 156 cm =m
  • We have found the answer.

Expand the below line and measure the length by using scale.

Let solve the problems.

Try these

1. Can you write 4 mm in ‘cm’ using decimals?

Given: 4 mm.
We know that, 10 mm = cm.
or, 1 mm = 110 cm or cm.
Therefore, 4 mm = 410 cm = cm
Thus, on converting 4 mm into cm we get cm.

2.How will you write 7cm 5 mm in ‘cm’ using decimals?

Given: 7 cm 5 mm.
We know that, 10 mm = cm.
or, 1 mm = 110 cm or cm.
Therefore, 5 mm = 510 cm = cm.
Thus, the length of 7 cm 5 mm can be written in cm as 7 cm + 0.5 cm = cm.

Mahesh also wants to represent this length pictorially. He took squared

papers of equal size and divided them into 100 equal parts. He considered each small square as one cm.

                100 cm                                              cm

Let's continue the Weight.

Weight

Nandu bought 500g potatoes, 250g capsicum, 700g onions, 500g tomatoes, 100g ginger and 300g radish. What is the total weight of the vegetables in the bag? Let us add the weight of all the vegetables in the bag.

Calculate weight

  • 500 g + 250 g + 700 g + 500 g + 100 g + 300 g = g
  • we know that 1000 g = 1 kg
  • Convert the 11000 into decimal is
  • Thus, 2350 g = g + g
  • Calculate 2350 g
  • convert the decimals and add the values
  • Hence we get the value is
  • Thus, the weight of vegetables in Nandu’s bag is kg.
