As you can see, there are ways in which you can achieve this.

From these experiments we observe that 6 can be written as a product of two numbers in different ways as

6 = 1 × 6; 6 = × 3; 6 = 3 × 2; 6 = × 1

From 6 = 2 × 3 it can be said that 2 and 3 exactly divide 6. So, 2 and 3 are exact divisors of 6. From the other product 6 = 1 × 6, the exact divisors of 6 are found to be 1 and 6. Thus, 1, 2, 3 and 6 are exact divisors of 6. They are called the factors of 6.
