Let see more about fractions.

Subhash knew that one-half is written as 12. If a full apple contains 4 parts then a half apple is equal to parts. While eating, he further divided his half into two smaller equal parts and asked Farida what fraction of the whole apple was that one piece?

Without answering, Farida also divided her portion of the half apple into two equal parts and kept them beside Subhash’s shares. She said that these four equal parts together make one whole apple.

So, each equal part is one-fourth of one whole apple and 4 parts together will be 44 or 1 whole apple.

A quarter apple is part of whole apple.

While they ate, they discussed what they had learnt earlier. Three parts out of 4 equal parts is .

Similarly,37 is obtained when we divide a whole into equal parts and take parts. For 18 , we divide a whole into equal parts and take part out of it.

We have 5 apples divide the apple into equal parts and distribute them between Subhash and Farida.

Subhash got how many apples? and

Farida got how many apples? and
