Exercises

  1. Classify the following curves as (i) Open or (ii) Closed.

Open Curves
Closed Curves

  1. Draw rough diagrams to illustrate the following :

(a) Open curve

(b) Closed curve

  1. Draw any polygon and shade its interior.

  1. Consider the given figure and answer the questions:

(a) Is it a curve?

Reason: As it can be drawn without lifting the pen from the paper.

(b) Is it closed?

Reason: As It has no ends

  1. Illustrate, if possible, each one of the following with a rough diagram:

(a) A closed curve that is not a polygon.

Solution: Closed curves can be traced without any break. They start and end in the place.

(b) An open curve made up entirely of line segments.

Solution: Open curves are and are made up of line segments or curves which do not meet.

(c) A polygon with two sides.

Solution: A polygon is defined as a closed two-dimensional figure with or more straight .

The smallest polygon is a having sides.

Thus, a polygon with 2 sides does not exist.
