Chapter 13: Practical Geometry > Construction of Angles using Protractor

Construction of Angles using Protractor

Let us constrct ∠PQR = 40°

Steps of Construction:

1. Draw a Base Ray (QR):

  • Using a ruler, draw a straight ray QR of any length.

  • Label Q as the starting point and R as any point on the ray.

2. Position the Protractor:

  • Place the center of the protractor exactly at Q.
  • Ensure the baseline of the protractor aligns perfectly with QR.

3. Mark 40° on the Protractor:

  • Look at the inner scale of the protractor (since QR is to the right).
  • Find 40° and place a small dot at this point. Label it as P.

4. Draw the Second Ray (QP):

  • Use a ruler to connect Q to P with a straight line.
  • This forms ∠PQR = 40°.
