Chapter 10: Perimeter and Area > Moderate Level Worksheet

Moderate Level Worksheet

Very Short Answer Questions (1 Mark Each)

(1) Write the formula for the area of a square.

Correct! The area of a square = side × side = a2.

(2) Find the perimeter of a square whose side = 15 cm.

Perfect! Perimeter = 4 × 15 = 60 cm.

(3) If the breadth of a rectangle is 7 cm and its area is 84 cm2, find its length.

Excellent! Length = Area ÷ breadth = 84 ÷ 7 = 12 cm.

(4) Write the unit of area in the SI system.

Great! The SI unit of area is square metre (m2).

(5) If the side of a square is 20 m, find its area.

Correct! Area = 20 × 20 = 400 m2.

Short Answer Questions (2 Marks Each)

Answer each question clearly

(1) A rectangular garden has length 24 m and breadth 15 m. Find its: (a) Perimeter (b) Area.

Perimeter: m Area: m2

Excellent! Perimeter = 2(24 + 15) = 78 m, Area = 24 × 15 = 360 m2.

(2) Find the side of a square whose area is 121 cm2.

Perfect! Side = Area = 121 = 11 cm.

(3) The perimeter of a rectangle is 50 cm. If its length is 15 cm, find its breadth.

Correct! Breadth = (Perimeter ÷ 2) - length = (50 ÷ 2) - 15 = 10 cm.

(4) Find the cost of fencing a rectangular plot of length 40 m and breadth 25 m at ₹12 per metre.

Great! Perimeter = 2(40 + 25) = 130 m. Cost = 130 × 12 = ₹1,560.

(5) A rectangular hall has length 28 m and breadth 15 m. Find the number of square tiles of side 1 m needed to cover the floor.

Perfect! Area = 28 × 15 = 420 m2. Number of tiles = 420 ÷ 1 = 420 tiles.

Long Answer Questions (4 Marks Each)

Note: Answer each question with complete steps and clear explanations.

(1) A rectangular park is 60 m long and 40 m wide. A path 2 m wide is constructed around it inside. Find the area of the path.

Area of path: m2

Correct! Park area = 60 × 40 = 2400 m2. Inner area = (60-4) × (40-4) = 56 × 36 = 2016 m2. Path area = 2400 - 2016 = 304 m2.

(2) A farmer has a square field of side 50 m. He wants to build a fence around it. Find the cost of fencing at ₹20 per metre.

Perfect! Perimeter = 4 × 50 = 200 m. Cost = 200 × 20 = ₹4,000.

(3) A hall is 30 m long and 20 m wide. How many square carpets of side 5 m are required to cover the entire hall?

Excellent! Hall area = 30 × 20 = 600 m2. Carpet area = 5 × 5 = 25 m2. Number of carpets = 600 ÷ 25 = 24.

(4) A square swimming pool has side 25 m. Find its area. How much will it cost to tile it at the rate of ₹ 50 per m2?

Area: m2 Cost:

(5) The length of a rectangle is twice its breadth. If its perimeter is 60 m, find its area.

Correct! Let breadth = x, then length = 2x. Perimeter = 2(x + 2x) = 6x = 60, so x = 10. Area = 20 × 10 = 200 m2.

Part B: Objective Questions (1 Mark Each)

Choose the correct answer and write the option (a/b/c/d)

(1) The area of a square of side a is:

(a) 2a (b) 4a (c) a2 (d) a + a

2a
4a
a + a

Correct! Area of square = side × side = a2.

(2) The perimeter of a rectangle of length l and breadth b is:

(a) l × b (b) l + b (c) 2(l + b) (d) l – b

l × b
l + b
2(l + b)
l – b

Correct! Perimeter of rectangle = 2(length + breadth).

(3) If the side of a square is 12 cm, its area is:

(a) 48 cm2 (b) 144 cm2 (c) 24 cm2 (d) 36 cm2

48 cm²
144 cm²
24 cm²
36 cm²

Correct! Area = 12 × 12 = 144 cm2.

(4) A rectangle has length 25 cm and breadth 10 cm. Its perimeter is:

(a) 70 cm (b) 50 cm (c) 35 cm (d) 20 cm

70 cm
50 cm
