Area of Rectangle

Outline the said rectangle on a graph paper having 1 cm × 1 cm squares. The rectangle covers squares completely.

The area of the rectangle = sq cm which can be written as 5 × 3 sq cm i.e. (length × breadth).

We see that:

Area of the rectangle = length × breadth
