Equal Sets
Two sets are said to be equal if they contain exactly the same elements, regardless of the order in which they are listed. This means that every element of one set is also an element of the other set, and vice versa.
Mathematical Representation
If two sets A and B are equal, we write: A = B
This implies that:
Every element of A is in B (A
B) Every element of B is in A (B
A)
If either condition is not met, then the sets are not equal.
1. Let A = {1, 2, 3, 4} and B = {4, 3, 2, 1}
Since both sets contain the
elements, they are equal. So, A
B.
2. Let X = {a,b,c} and Y = {b,c,a}
- Since both sets have the
elements.
So, X
